A special taskforce put in place by the Chairman of the East African Community, Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete to monitor the ongoing turmoil in Burundi has submitted its report before regional Foreign Affairs Ministers, Tanzania’s Foreign Affairs Minister Bernard Membe said Saturday.

Opening a panel of East African Community (EAC) Foreign Affairs Ministers in Dar es Salaam, Mr Membe said the report containing recommendations to address the conflict in Burundi will be handed over to EAC Heads of State who are due to convene in Dar es Salaam, Sunday to discuss the situation.

Mr. Membe said the report which was compiled by Special adviser on Burundi’s political crisis and regional foreign misters will include a brief note by EAC Attorneys General addressing the decision by Burundi’s Constitutional Court to endorse President Pierre Nkurunzinza’s decision to run for the third term.

“After integrating all the required information, the council of ministers will present its final report to the presidents,” he told reporters in Dar es Salaam.
