AFRICA HERE I COME: Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg

Social networking giant Facebook is finally tapping into budding Africa market. The Silicon Valley-based company is opening an office in Johannesburg, South Africa as it eyes growth in countries like Nigeria, Senegal, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda among others.

There are 120 million Africans today on the social networking site, and according to Bloomberg, Facebook want to double this number in the next few years.

According to Time Magazine, the internet giant has been growing its Africa footprint over the last several years through its Internet.org initiative.

Facebook plans to hire 25 employees to man the South Africa bureau. The office will mainly focus on attracting local businesses to advertise on the social network site.

Nunu Ntshingila, the chairman of Ogilvy South Africa has been appointed to Head of Facebook Africa.
