Rwandan fashionista and former beauty queen Sandra Teta has been dragged to court for allegedly issuing 5 bounced cheques to a number of businessmen in Kigali.

The 2011 MISS School of Finance and Banking (SFB) 2nd Runner Up, appeared before Nyarugenge Court of First Instance Friday after being arrested Tuesday.

The beauty queen-turned event management executive troubles hit local tabloids when the claimants reported the issue to the police.

Speaking to the media after her court appearance Ms Teta blamed her troubles on mounting debt.
“It’s true it happened I received their money but I was planning to pay them in installments after reducing other debts I have been paying these last months,” She said

Teta was first given Rwf 3,000,000 when she introduced her project to city businessmen and later on handed an additional Rwf 2,000,000, and $5000 (about Rwf 372,000).

The cash-strapped cutie reportedly used or misused all this money to cater for artistes and models who appeared in her Rwanda International Fashion World earlier this year at Hotel Porto Fino in Kigali.

The prosecutor decline to comment on the case but said the court proceedings will resume Monday November 9.

The former Miss SFB second runner up was first was briefly detained this July for issuing a bad cheque to another city businessman Godfrey Nkusi.

After contesting in the Miss SFB beauty pageant in 2011, Teta went on to pursue her career in the entertainment industry but it appears she might need to go back to school for more finance lessons.
