Lupita in K’la

She has propelled Kenya and indeed Africa to Hollywood’s big screen, and she is not yet done. Oscar winning actress Lupita Onyango is now acclimatizing herself to “The Pearl of Africa” in preps for the shooting of upcoming movie Queen of Katwe in which she features.
Lupita, also a film director, was spotted at musician Maurice Kirya’s café located at Garden City Mall sipping her coffee with friends.
The movie Queen of Katwe is based on the true life story of a Ugandan chess prodigy, Phiona Mutesi, who beat all odds to rise from the squalor of Katwe (Kampala suburb) slums onto international scene.
It is not yet clear exactly when the filming of the movie will commence, although film directors and equipment are on the ready in the Ugandan capital
The Mexican-Kenyan star, 32 tasted the lime light when she won an Oscar for her role in “12 Years of Slave” last year.
This will be her second movie filmed in Uganda and the first ever since she became an international recognized movie star.
Lupita has also been romantically linked with a host of celebrities from her “12 years of Slave” co-stars to rapper K’naan.
