Legendary Ivorian reggae artiste Tiken Jah Fakoly, real name Doumbia Moussa Fakoly calls upon African born artistes living abroad to help tell a genuine story of Africa to clear the bad image of the continent portrayed in mainstream western media.

The reggae icon made the call recently while appearing live at Kigali’s private radio station KT Radio.

“Let successful artistes living in western countries use their fame to unite Africa as well as tell the true story of Africa to clear bad image that is always portrayed in western media,” Tiken said

He added Africa has some of the best minds across globe “but we need to unite and see ourselves as Africans in order to develop our continent”. Tiken was the headliner at ISANO Festival in Kigali last week.

He is famous for composing songs on African unity and highlighting the West’s agenda to turn Africans against one another.

The reggae veteran currently lives in Mali with his family. Before Rwanda, he mesmerized his fans in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
