Rwanda’s first daughter donates $1,500 to save local journalist diagnosed with cancer

Rwanda’s first daughter Angel Kagame has joined hundreds of Rwandans, media fraternity and politicians and celebrities in the ongoing campaign to fund treatment for local journalist Edmund Kagire who was recently diagnosed with liver cancer.

“@Kagire have just donated,” Angel Kagame, who donated $15,00 posted on her twitter page.

The tweet was retweeted by many people thanking her for generosity and love of humanity.

Edmund Kagire is a 32 year old Rwandan journalist married to Linda Mbabazi, also a local Journalist, the couple is blessed with two daughters Leona & Laura.

He was recently diagnosed with Liver Cancer and he needs a staggering $23,000 for him to undergo treatment in India..

The “Save Kagire” fund drive has so far managed to raise $7,055. People are donating through

Kagire has worked in various media houses including Rwanda’s The New Times and he is currently attached to Nation Media Group.
