TZ on the verge of electing a woman president

History is unfolding in Tanzania as two high profile women are in the final three candidates for the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) nomination for president.

Dr Asha-Rose Migiro, Ms Amina Salum Ali and Dr John Magufuli are the three remaining aspirants in the race for CCM flag bearer.

The Congress for the dominant party in Tanzanian politics is meeting in Dodoma to chose the nominee to represent them in the October 25 general election. Come Sunday, the party must coalesce around one candidate from the three finalists.

January Makamba and Mr Bernard Membe have been eliminated from the contest.

Amina Salum Ali is a  veteran Zanzibar/Tanzania politician and the current African Union (AU) Ambassador to the United States.

Dr.Migiro is the United Nation former Deputy Secretary General and Current Justice and Constitution and Legal Affairs Minister

Dr John Magufuli is an MP for Chato constituency, and the current minister of Works
