UPDATED:Uganda’s AK47 dies

Ugandan Singer and one of the young brothers to music stars Jose Chameleone and Douglas Mayanja (Weasel) of Radio & Weasel,  has died. Reports from Kampala indicate the star died at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala after suddenly collapsing at Dejavu Pub in Kansanga as he went to ease himself in the toilet.

According to reports in the local media, police in Kampala is suspecting foul play in the shocking death of the young singer. The pub has been shut down pending police investigation and owner and DJ of the bar are under arrest.

Kabalagala Police Criminal Investigations Chief Nusulah Kemigisa is quoted by The New Vision (a local daily) saying “We suspected foul play after realising the body had bruises on the chest and we decided to close the bar as investigations take shape”

Unconfirmed reports further indicate AK 47 got into a fight at the bar before heading to the bathroom to clean up.

The 23 year old Emmanuel Mayanja Hummertone aka AK47 , a budding dancehall artiste is survived by his wife Connie Mayanja and Twins.

He died surrounded by his fellow stars and big brothers Weasel, Pallaso and Chameleone among other family members and friends.

The Champion fame was one of the fastest growing stars in East Africa. The star who had expressed interest establishing himself in Kigali, Rwanda is being mourned by East Africa’s Entertainment World.

Desire Luzinda, Uganda female star and Ekitone singer on her Facebook upon getting the sad news “My heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Mayanja. My brothers Weasel, Humphrey, Chameleone and Pallaso, may God comfort u and keep you strong through this trying time. We are with you. RIP AK.”

Singer Jose Chameleone also announced his brother’s death on Facebook “Death has robbed us of Emmanuel Mayanja, also known as AK 47. To all our friends May God give us all strength to stand in such a trying time, my brother you have gone too soon.RIP”
